A few days ago, I posted a recipe for baking bread in the crock pot (see here). Since that turned out so well – I thought I would give cake a try! To find a recipe, I went back to the same cookbook – “Fix It and Forget It”. There are quite a few recipes for baking desserts listed, but the Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge Pudding Cake is what caught my eye. It turned out great! I especially enjoyed the hot fudge sauce! I love making pudding cakes in the crock pot – you just mix them up and let them cook. So easy and so good!
Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup boiling water
vanilla ice cream
Combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and baking powder. Add milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Stir in peanut butter. Pour into slow cooker. Mix together 1/2 cup sugar and cocoa powder. Gradually stir in boiling water. Pour mixture over batter in slow cooker. Do not stir. Cover and cook on “High” for 2 – 3 hours, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
The total cost for this recipe is just under $.70 – for the entire dish (not including the ice cream)! That’s quite a deal! This will definitely be making a regular appearance in my home!
Do you make desserts in your slow cooker? If so, what are your favorite recipes? I’d love to hear from you!
This sounds so incredible! I’ve been dying to try a regular hot fudge cake (because I love nothing more than molten chocolate), but this PB version sounds even better!
I love hot fudge cake – and I was so excited to try this version! I’m so glad it turned out!
What a great idea! Another recipe I’ll have to give a try.
I was soooo excited by this recipe – I am loving the crock pot these day!
Sounds so easy and delicious! I am thrilled to see it’s all homemade… no pudding mix!
🙂 It was both easy and delicious – No pudding mix required!!!
The chocolate and peanut butter lover in me says I’ll be trying this soon, thanks.
Your Welcome! If you do, stop by and let me know how you like it!
This looks amazing! I never knew you could make desserts in a slow cooker. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Sure! I am finding new ways to use my slow cooker every day!
Reblogged this on randommixedchick and commented:
looks tasty 🙂
Peanut butter and hot fudge in a Crock Pot? Yes, please!
I know, right?!
Peanut butter has the dubious honour of being seated right next to vegemite in our house. One of my daughters loves it…the other can’t stand it. My husband isn’t a fan (unless it is rendered spicy and made into a Satay or Thai sauce) and I adore it and could eat it with a spoon from the jar. I wonder if I could sneak it into a pudding like this and he would like it? I will give it a shot because this looks WONDERFUL, easy and “cheap as chips” and I dare say the fact that it is loaded with chocolaty goodness might go part way to disguising the terrifying secret that “There is peanut butter in there!…ECH!”…wish me luck!
Good Luck! I’d love to hear how it goes!
Peanut butter and hot fudge! This looks amazing. I’m thinking this will be a perfect dessert this week. Thanks for sharing.
Sure! I love that it’s so simple to put together! Dessert made easy!
Oh my goodness… my mouth is watering looking at all the fabulous recipes showcased in your blog!! You must be quite talented in the kitchen. I hope you liked visiting my blog 🙂
Thank you so much! I did like visiting your blog…I will be back!
i don’t own a crock pot ~ but you’re convincing me to get one ~ looks and sounds sooo good
🙂 I love mine…I keep finding new things to make in it!
We’re definitely going to try this for our next family gathering! How many people do you think this would serve? Can I double it?
I think you could double it, I got 6 servings out of the recipe (I served it with ice cream). I would just suggest to check the timing, it might take a little longer. If you do, please let me know how it turns out…I would love to double this one!
Thanks, Stephanie! I’ll let you know how it turns out 🙂
Looks Yummm! My mouth is already watering 🙂
🙂 Thanks!
I have never cooked a cake in my crock pot, but I will now! This sounds just wonderful! Debra
It turned out so well – I will be trying more!
I’m doing a Vegan challenge this week, so I’m going to use coconut milk and omit the oil. This sounds soooo good! 🙂
Great! Let me know how it works!
I sure will. 🙂
This looks divine! I have never tried to make desserts in the crock pot-apparently I am missing out 😉
Thanks! This was my first – I’m so glad it turned out great! It was so easy – mix it up and let it go!
I had to reblog it! I just tried it because today happened to be a holiday here and I had time, and wow! I can do this on a regular night no problem! Thank you so much it was delicious!
Sure! I’m so glad you liked it!
I think next time we might try to add bananas to it. Seems like it would be easy to incorporate fruits into it as well to give it just another dimension. Maybe even some pecans or walnuts?
That’s a great idea! I especially like the nuts – I think it would give it great crunch and added flavor!
I am also wondering how maybe instead of peanut butter using almond butter Oh the possibilities!
OOOHHH that would be good!!!!!
i am intrigued – i have seen recipes for cakes and breads in the crock but just haven’t been able to reconcile the idea that non savory dinner dishes can become accomplished dishes if only i would give them a shot! i am inspired to try this…or at least i am getting closer to it!
🙂 Now that I’ve tried it – I am on the lookout for new cake recipes…I love how easy it is to make dessert now!
This is rather exciting! I’ve just rediscovered my parents old 1970s crockpot and haven’t been game to make anything other than a beef stew in it yet. I might just have to give this a go!
Fantastic! I love how simple dessert and bread was to make in mine – I will be using it more often for sure!

Funny. I was just thinking about making a pudding cake recipe tonight to go with the ice cream in my freezer, however, mine’s a microwave recipe. First I was going to do the choc.-peanut butter, but I think I might be adventurous and try choc.-mint. 🙂
mmmm….that’s a great combo!
yummmmm!
indeed!
Don’t know that I’ll use a slow cooker, but any recipe that uses peanut butter as an ingredient has a head start in my book!
I agree! It’s a favorite of mine!
