These are some of my “go-to” recipes when money gets tight – no ramen noodles required (although I do like ramen….)! They all taste amazing and are under $1.42 per serving. The lentil/sausage recipe is the lowest at $.30 per serving – you can’t beat that!
Sunday Pasta Sauce with Meatballs
My Grandmother’s Pasta Fagioli
Warm Lentils With Caramelized Onions, Sweet Potatoes and Sausage
Spinach, Rice and Cheese Stuffed Meatloaf
Braised Chicken With Zucchini, Tomatoes and Roasted Garlic Polenta
Ham, Broccoli and Cheese Strata
What are your favorite budget-friendly meals? I’d love to hear from you!

Great post! I love the ideas you are sharing. Sigh…haven’t got to try that marvelous chocolate cake yet. Wish I had more time for “fun” cooking and baking.
Thank you so much! I agree – I need more time for just about everything! 🙂

Sure! I can’t wait to hear what you think!
Great stuff! Thank you
Thanks! 🙂
These are lovely ideas for low cost meals!! I love stir fried rice, and the best thing is that you can use up all leftovers in your fridge and make a wonderful one dish meal!! Check out my recipe for stir fried rice:

Yum, yum, yum! I love stir fry rice also – it is a great use for leftovers! 🙂

It’s amazing how much cheaper food is in the U.S.A. than for the rest of the world! Here in Australia we grow just about everything that we need but our food is a lot more expensive than yours AND we have less choice than you do (not always a bad thing I guess 😉 ). Cheers for your suggestions…now we just need to find cheaper ingredients to make these meals here in Australia
I didn’t know that about Australia!
It’s like that in just about everywhere else in the world. For some reason the US has really cheap food. They also have the worst obesity (with the rest of us rapidly catching up!) so I guess more choice = poorer food choices?
