Kit Kat Cake!

I made this cake for my step-daughter’s 16th birthday party…it was a hit and super easy too!

It starts with your favorite cake, I used a basic chocolate cake recipe (soon to be posted) baked as directed in two, 8 inch cake pans.  Once completely cool, I frosted it with a simple marshmallow frosting (soon to be posted, you can use any you like!).  Finally, take about 4 large Kit Kat bars and break them apart.   Press them into the frosting on the sides of the cake.  Top with M&M’s (I used one large bag), tie a ribbon around the cake and voila!  How simple is that!

I also made cupcakes using the same cake and frosting recipe to go with it.  Couldn’t be easier!

I hope you try it! If so, let me know how it turns out!

  1. Cheers for the like on my blog!
The Kit Kat cake looks like the perfect cake for a kid’s birthday party! I have to try it…

  2. Yumm! Thanks for liking my mini cheesecakes post. Wish I could taste through my computer. This cake looks amazing.

  3. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and liking my artichoke post. 🙂 I’m excited to explore your blog more, particularly as a Christian woman who’s trying to cook/bake more from scratch. I’m definitely finding a joy in becoming more domestic as that has often times eluded me! 🙂 I don’t know what lured you to my humble blog, but hopefully you’ll be back as I try to keep up with it on a regular basis. Blessings and I’m already going to be visiting that cinnamon roll recipe (I just tried them about a month ago and I’m interested in seeing what you did with yours!). 🙂

    • I really liked your blog – and I LOVE artichokes (and I also really enjoyed your post about trials in life) – I will be back for sure! Thanks for stopping by and let me know how you like the cinnamon rolls!

  4. Hi Stephanie, my daughter posted the picture of the large cake on my facebook a while ago and instructed me to make this for her 18th birthday. We were discussing what type of cake was inside. We loved it and the cup cakes look awesome! Thanks for liking my post. Much appreciated 🙂

    • That’s really sweet! My two year old just pulled a picture of a rainbow cake out of a magazine – she told me that’s what I will be making as her birthday cake in June. I love it though!

  5. Thanks for visiting my blog, ArtistMum.wordpress.com. And liking my post. I appreciate your ‘visit’! Love those cupcakes! Who wouldn’t like Kit-Kats on cupcakes! Love it 🙂

  6. Oooh I’m liking the idea of it as a ‘Welcome to the Weekend’ cake! Cakes are always better with kitkats. I added grated white kitkat to a pavlova we made not long ago, and I won’t make it again without it!
It looks so yummy! Thanks for the like on today’s post.

  7. This looks so great! I love candy and mother’s day is soon. Just maybe!! I enjoy reading your blog. I am thrilled that you are not a shamed to say that you too are a Christian blogger who loves God.
My blog http://www.recipesforourdailybread.com has Stories and Recipes to Encourage Families to Cook Together, Eat Together, Make Memories Together, and Share The Word of God

    Your pictures are great!

  8. This is such a fun and creative cake! I have a friend’s birthday coming up who loves kit kats, this is the perfect delicious surprise to make! Thanks for stopping by my blog and I look forward to checking out more of your awesome recipes!

  9. Thanks for dropping by my Blog Stephanie. I love your Kitkat cupcakes idea, the cake as well…..but it’s just so hot in Chennai that the Kitkat would just melt. So the cupcakes work better for me.
I believe in cooking from scratch as much as possible and will definitely be stopping by your blog often.

  10. Hey, Stephanie, thank you for the “like.” Wow! That cake looks awesome! What a lucky stepdaughter!! If you have anything you make in 1 minute — on the healthy side and around 300 calories — send it over. If it fits the parameters, I’ll put it up on my site and give you the credit! Sadly…no butterfingers or kit kats — ha! But I’ll come to your site for that!

  11. This looks so totally perfect for kids birthday parties! Thanks for the idea!!!

Also, thanks for liking my post about Hydrangeas with a mind of their own! Those silly plants keep changing their mind about what color they should be!

  12. Thanks for the like! Glad i stopped by, that looks delicious!!! Your step water would have loved it i’m sure! Hope i can try the recipe when you get it up 😀

  13. This looks delicious, I can’t wait to try it out soon on my son’s 16th – he’s always loved kitkats, he’ll be thrilled

  14. so fun! i’m planning on making this for a colleague’s birthday in a few weeks and am wondering if it’s possible to a) use 9-inch springform pans (I’m assuing it would just require more Kit Kat bars) and b) to make it 3 layers high instead of 2? or perhaps four layers would be the right height to stack the Kat Kat bars vertically and then use a wider ribbon to hide the place where they join?

    • I think it would work – As long as the kit kat bars stick to the frosting, your good to go as high as you want! You can make it in any size pan you want, you’ll just have to adjust the amount of kit kat’s and m&m’s – let me know how it works out!
